A New Kind of Economics - Computable and Behavioral Economics

This essay is based on my experience of attending the Workshop on Computable Economics hosted by the COBREA of Economics Department at the National University of Ireland, Galway, between March 21-25, 2005. This workshop is absolutely the best one I attended so far. It is small and has a compact schedule. It is really a valuable opportunity to meet several world first-class scholars from economics, mathematics and computer science and discuss with them. The workshop itself is enjoyable, the discussions are deep and sharp, just like Vela said in the workshop: “we are here not for convincing others but for exchanging ideas”. I have learnt a lot from this workshop, not only the knowledge they taught and the ideas they presented but also the way of thinking and the history of thoughts. I have to say I am biased in writing this essay, I’d prefer to write it as my understanding of computable economics and some of my ideas which were inspired by the workshop instead of a simple summary of the lectures.
